Counter lined with big bowls of obanzai

2ALBA Kitanozaka Bldg. 5F, Kobe

Home cooking,
five floors up.

Homemade obanzai from the big bowls on the counter. Fifth floor: the lift opens right at our door.

Today's obanzai

Obanzai is Kyoto home cooking. What fills the bowls depends on the morning market, so the board changes daily.

  • Dashimaki tamago rolled omelette¥680
  • Simmered taro¥580
  • Kujo leek and fried tofu¥580
  • Cured mackerel¥880
  • Marinated free-range chicken¥780
  • Yuba and seasonal greens¥680

These dishes and prices are sample data for the demo. The real board changes every day, and the sake list rotates with the season.

Unfussy, but carefully made.

Nothing on the counter is exotic. These are everyday Kyoto dishes where the stock and the prep decide the flavour, cooked fresh each day.

The staff will walk you through every bowl. If you are not sure what to order, just ask. English is welcome, and pointing works too.
